Knowledge of animal nutrition

Tailored recipes and advice keep animals healthy and productive for longer, can reduce specific problems, and limit the curative use of antibiotics. These solutions also contribute to a more efficient use of nutrients, such as protein and minerals, and thus to a better environment.

Case studies:

  • In the first place to be able to make products that tangibly contribute to the healthy growth and development of farm animal
  • Tailored recipes and advice for specific problems such as claw inflammation (dairy cattle, sows) and injurious pecking (laying hens) reduce and limit the curative use of antibiotics. These solutions also contribute to a more efficient use of nutrients, such as protein and minerals, and thus to a better environment
  • At Twilmij's initiative, a successful chain cooperation was set up with hatcheries and machine builders, focused on early feeding of chicks. By starting to feed chicks their first high-quality diet at the hatchery – which is uncommon – they are stronger and healthier for transportation and have significantly increased survival rates.
  • An important knowledge theme here is intelligent premix design. This domain includes process improvements and innovations that lead to more efficient use of raw materials, faster turnaround times, less dust generation, and energy conservation. This applies to our plant as well as our customers. A fine example in which all these elements come together, is the replacement of wheat semolina by ground wheat as the organic carrier in premixes in 2016.
